Milkwood Cottage

Churchaven · West Coast National Park · an hour from Cape Town

★ 4.92 on Airbnb · Superhost · Sleeps 6 · 3 bedrooms · Off-grid & beachfront

A home away from home

Deep in the West Coast National Park, in one of the most beautiful and tranquil corners of the world, is Milkwood. If you have never visited the West Coast of the Cape before, you are in for a surprise — the colours, the beauty of the reserve, the fynbos flowers in spring, and the quietness just an hour out of Cape Town.

The cottage is completely off the grid — and that is the treat. Cook on the gas stove or the BBQ, light the candles, and settle in for an evening under the stars. The fridge runs off solar power, and the showers, washing up and toilets run on rain water.

Three bedrooms, each with a double bed. Two and a half bathrooms. The lagoon on your doorstep.

Good to know before you come

  • The cottage is off-grid: solar power runs lights, phones and the fridge. No hair dryers, curling irons or other appliances in the plugs.
  • Bring drinking water — the cottage runs on rain water for showers, washing up and toilets.
  • Park gates close at 18:30 in summer and 17:30 in winter; arrival after that is not possible.
  • Check-in 2pm–6pm, checkout by 10am. Maximum 6 guests.
  • Portable BBQ with wood and firelighters supplied. No washing machine, dishwasher or TV — that's the point.
  • No dogs (national park regulations).
  • Minimum stay 2 nights; 7 nights over high season (15 December – 10 January).
